Christine’s passion is for bringing hope to the hopeless and fighting injustice, specifically the injustice of human trafficking. She recently founded an organization called the A21 Campaign. This signifies abolishing injustice in the 21st century. A21 exists to rescue and minster to victims of human trafficking, an organized criminal industry that affects every nation. Trafficking in women is the second largest organized global crime today, generating an estimated $12 billion USD annually.

In anticipation of President Barack Obama’s primetime address to the nation last night on the Iraq War, columnist Eugene Robinson wrote, “Now that the Iraq War is over… only one thing is clear about the outcome: We didn’t win.” Actually, I can think of about 12 things that are clearer about the outcome of the Iraq War than the conclusion that we didn’t win.

AMC showed the action film True Lies last night, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis. Although the final action scene, in which Arnold is in the cockpit of a jet fighter and simultaneously trying to rescue his daughter hanging from it while battling a terrorist with an AK-47, is pretty astounding, something else really surprised me.

One morning, while driving to work in Geneva, a police officer pulled The Count over to the side of the road and asked for his driver’s license. When The Count asked what he had done wrong, the cop said: “Nothing. I’m giving you a citation for good driving.” Then he handed The Count a big box of Swiss chocolates and went on to explain that this was a new program, put into effect by the government to inspire safe and courteous driving.

To remember the 9/11 attacks this coming Saturday, a pastor from a small Gainesville, Florida, church has arranged a Koran burning. Although his church has only about 50 members, he has received insane international attention. Burn the flag? Burn a Bible? Who cares!

One of the questions that I had for years, was that it says in Halacha that on Rosh Hashana one should not mention his sins, he should not say viduy, and so forth. Many skip in Aveinu Malkainu those lines that refer to sin, like the first one, Aveinu Malkainu chatanu lefanecha.
